Description: In Celtic mythology Taranis was the god of Thunder worshiped in Gaul, Gallaecia and the The British Isles. The god is represented with a thunderbolt and a wheel. At first glance you can identify the lightening bolts and drifting clouds, which are a metaphor for the wheel that is associated with Taranis.

The reddish clay colored background and patches of green earth set the stage for visual exploration.

Like all of all of my Receptive Abstract Patternism works of art, the name evolved after the painting was completed. I find it somewhat bewildering that the paintings seem to reach out for a name that I would have never made the associated in a such a clever or meaningful way.

Taranis is one of those paintings that draws you in. Once you pass the simplicity you will be captivated by the sublime colors and composition.
