Description:  An unusual name for a painting perhaps…but there is a bit of a back story here. Everyone that saw this painting kept seeing candy. But the more I viewed and thought about the painting, the more the name evolved and memories and thoughts started to flow. Then I had a flash back. At this point I cannot even validate if this was real or not. But if my memory serves me at all, Candy Devonchensey (may have been spelled with an ‘ie’) was a new student in our middle school class, at the very small school I went to in Crestline, California. For a bunch of sheltered and naive boys, this girl from the city was worldly and was well adept at manipulating and flirting with her new found rube audience. Yes this painting has a light and superficial feel to it, the painting has an appearance of being sweet, simple, alluring- but you don’t quite know why. At some point you may even feel a little manipulated by the over-all “sweetness” of the painting, because there feels like something is happening here, but you don’t know what. It may even have trans-like qualities, which triggers ones imagination and can take you into hidden recessed memories. So please viewer beg my indulgence… you may have your own Candy Devonchensey in your life memories.
